Seminar on “Emergence and Evolution of Green Chemistry for Environmental Responsible and Sustainable Technologies” held at Daffodil International University.


A Seminar on “Emergence and Evolution of Green Chemistry for Environmental Responsible and Sustainable Technologies” was held today at DIU Auditorium organized by the Department of Pharmacy of Daffodil International University. Presided over by Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University, the Keynote paper was presented by Dr. Muhammed Hashmat Ali, Professor, Department of Chemistry, Southeast Missouri State University, USA. The Seminar was also addressed by Prof. Dr. S. M. Mahabub- Ul Haque Majumber, Dean, Faculty of Science and IT, Prof. Dr. Shamsul Haque, Head, Department of Pharmacy and Prof. Dr. M. Mizanur Rahman, Head, BRE of Daffodil International University.

 The speakers in the seminar said that massive practice of “Green Chemistry” is very important for every industry in Bangladesh to keep the environment free from all sorts of pollution and restoration of environment. To keep peace with huge industrialization and rapid growth of population, it is high time to have practice and implement of Green Chemistry which is nothing  but the design of the chemical products and  processes to reduce or eliminate the use and or generation of hazardous substances. They also emphasized not to generate waste in the first place rather than depositing or treating it afterwards.

Project Fair-2011 held at Daffodil International University, Bangladesh

A project fair was held today on June 25, 2011 at Daffodil International University ( DIU)  organized by Human Resource Development Institute at the DIU Auditorium. Altogether 13 teams participated in the fair. Seven projects were presented by senior students with mostly web-based projects. Six projects were presented by junior students who are now in L1T2. These projects were all Excel based. The students used Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) with Excel to produce complete applications. Prof. Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman,Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. S. M. Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Dean, FSIT, Prof. Dr. Yousuf M. Islam, Executive Director, HRDI attended the fair among other teachers and distributed the prizes among the winners.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman was very pleased to see students of first year completing in-course projects. He appreciated the high quality work done by the senior students. He said that students learn a lot by doing projects in their courses. He discussed the benefit of giving in-course projects to students. In each category, Champion and Runners up prize was given.
The members of the winner team of Champion in Junior Group comprised: Amir Hossai, Iqbal Hossain, Lora Annana Bishwas, Rafia Ferdousy, Gobinda Karmakar of the department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE).
The members of the winner team of Champion in Senior Group comprised:   Imran Hossain, Umam Mustain and Mujib La Sanny of department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE).

Seminar on-""Mainstreaming CSR towards climate sustainability: imperatives for South Asia" held at Daffodil International University.




Speakers at the international seminar in Dhaka today urged the business to come forward in developing sustainable environment.

They made the observation in a day long seminar held at Daffodil International University (DIU) auditorium.

The panel of speakers in the seminar “Mainstreaming CSR towards climate sustainability: imperatives for South Asia.”  This held at DIU on Tuesday.

The seminar sponsored by Daffodil International University and it was organized by Nature Alliance and supported by Global Sustainable Solution, Reed Consulting (BD) Ltd., Biz Care and Responsible Business Initiatives.

Vice President- Communication & Media Relations for ROBI- Mr. Mohiuddin Babar presented the keynote paper, he also presided the seminar as well.

In the seminar V. C of DIU said- “Global warming is very harmful phenomenon for us, our 17 percent of land will be go in the bally of the water, so this is the high time to take some technical initiatives for the solution of this problem.”

Uchita De Zoysa said- “CSR is a new strategy to make business responsible towards their impact on the environment and society.”

In the key note paper Mr. Mohiuddin Babar Said- “Business should be pro- active in influencing people to adapt to climate change impact.”
He also said-“the director of CSR should changed from traditional course heath and education to developing adaptability of the people”
He further said- “as part of CSR business could extant soar power usage and heap in research and development of climate resilient crops.”

Dr. Faiz Shah - from Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok said-“there has to be a bigger role of business in dealing with the climate change impact.”

Ambreen Wahid said- “the basic rules of business we have to define first for the sustainability.’

Rondy Reed said- “In bold line Bangladesh has no any CSR rules.

Rag Day celebrated at Prime University


Prime University recently celebrated rag day in esteem mood at their campus. The whole event was initiated by the Business Administration Department. It was inaugurated by The Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Dr. P. C. Sarker, accompanied by the Chairman of the Business Administration Department along with the Registrar Prof. Md. Arshad Ali. It was a day of thrill, merry-making and great fiesta to everyone especially for the outgoing students. This eventful day was the teachers and students collaborated outcome which brought more attraction in it. As a part of it a football match was arranged between the outgoing students and the faculty members that ended in 0-0 draw further enhanced the day’s festive mood. Later a colorful procession with fanfare brought out by the students and teachers crossed the campus and area around. The program also included luncheon, a pompous cultural evening, drama, fashion show and a cheerful DJ party.

Thalassaemia awareness and prevention at Southeast University on 

World Blood Donation Day arranged by University Pharmacy Club (SEUPC) and Voluntary Blood Donating Organization
14th June, was the “World Blood Donation Day”. On the occasion of Southeast University Pharmacy Club (SEUPC) and Voluntary Blood Donating Organization, MANUSH jointly organized the day-long Thalassaemia awareness and prevention seminar, free blood donation, blood group determination, related survey of blood donation and Rally was held at Southeast University campus at Banani, Dhaka.


Dean of Science and Engineering of Southeast University Dr. R. I. Sharif as Chair, Vice Chancellor (acting) of Southeast University Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin as Chief Guest was present there. In seminar a speech on Thalassemia awareness and prevention was mainly delivered by Prof. Dr. Masuda Begum of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. The Head of Urology Department Prof. Dr. M. Fakrul Islam was present as Special guest. Advisor of MANUSH Ad. Safiqur Rahman, Coordinator of Pharmacy Department was present.

More than 500 students got a clear vision and more information about Thalassaemia. Free blood group was determined of more than 800 students and more than 1000 students were participating in the rally of World Blood Donor Day. Finance Secretary of MANUSH, Mahbubul Alam, President Rasidul Alam Mollah, Organizing Secretary Jahidul Islam, Advertising Secretary Farid Ahmed and other members of MANUSH was present in the program.

Three days long Book Fair at North South University

With the slogan of “Hath Baralai Onno Jogoth” the North South University Shangskritik Shangathan (NSUSS) organized three days long (from 27th to 29th July) ‘Book Fair 2011’. 
Dr. Hafiz G. A. Siddiqui, Vice Chancellor, North South University formally inaugurated the fair on 27th June morning. In his book fair launching speech he mentioned, “We are really very happy for being able to organize this book fair and hope that this will inspire the students to read books.” Moreover , Dr. Dina Forqan, Faculty Advisor, North South University Shangskritik Shangathan said, “ We were thinking about organizing such book fair for a very long time and can expect that from now on every year. 
Along with the renowned publishers of our country there are about 25 publishers, who have given their stalls in this book fair. Several distinguished writers of our country will be present in the fair and will share their views with the readers. The book fair is only open for the students of North South University and for them there will be 25 % discount on every book they purchase.
For the last 17 years North South University Shangskritik Shangathan has been playing a vital role in practicing the culture of our country and this book fair is just an example of such activities.
On 29th July at 4 pm the closing ceremony of the book fair will be staged. The name of the program is “Onnojogoth” and Prof. Abdullah Abu Sayed will be present in that program as chief guest.

Seminar held on “Budget 2011-2012: Expectations of the New Generation” at Southeast University

School of Business Studies of Southeast University organized a Seminar on “Budget 2011-2012: Expectations of the New Generation” on 30 June 2011 in the Seminar Hall of SEU. Professor Dr. Toufic Ahmad Choudhury, Director General, BIBM & Secretary General, Bangladesh Economic Association was the Chief Guest in the Seminar. Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin, Vice Chancellor (acting) of Southeast University was the Chair. Dr. Helal Uddin Ahmed, Dean (acting), School of Business Studies, Mohammad Salahuddin, Assistant Professor, School of Business Studies, Kazi Md. Tarique, Coordinator of BBA Program were discussants of the seminar.

Md. Shahidur Rahman & Jannatul Ferdous, students of SBS of SEU presented their opinion & observation and suggestions on the National Budget 2011-2012.
